Pump Hire – 150mm De-Waterer

Unit on hire not working as you’d expect?

Answers to common questions Click Here

SPECIFICATIONS

  • Vacuum prime pump for easy use – just set up the hoses and start the motor.
  • 24 hour fuel tank for long pump time
  • Capacity: pump up to 8,500 litres per minute
  • Maximum head: 47 Metres
  • Maximum lift – 7m; Friction in hose and all sorts of technical stuff to do with physics means it’s just not possible to get any higher.
  • Maximum solids – 75mm

A few hints with setting up a pump:
* Get the pump as close to the water as possible as pumps can push water much better than they can “suck”.
* The more suction hoses, the less you’ll be able to lift the water so we don’t recommend more than 3 x 3m hoses.
* Our pumps are good – but they can’t overcome the laws of Physics.
A perfect pump with 0mm tolerance creating a perfect vacuum pumping pure water with no solids or silt at sea level with no delivery hoses can lift a theoretical 10.3 metres.
In an “actual use” situation with friction from hoses, foot valves, bends in the hose, pressure and friction from delivery hoses, silt and solids in the water etc etc 7 metres is about as good as you can expect – ie 3 x suction hoses.

* You may have luck with more than 3 hoses if the pump is very close to the water level so most of the suction hoses are on flat ground – but best to get the pump near the water – and add extra delivery hose.

* AND the higher you lift the water, the lower the distance you can push/pump it. So, get the pump close to the water.

* Let’s just use 100mm hoses on the 150mm pump? That’ll solve the problem.
Actually it will make it worse because the amount of friction in a 100mm hose for the volume of water is greater than a 150mm hose. So, this is just a quick way to wear yourself out setting up hoses that won’t do the job.
